Giveaway Time!

I'm not a big fan of contests, but I do need to step up my marketing game a little and social media seems to be the place to do it these days.  I also did promise to give away something great I found at High Point, so here's the deal...

I'm a huge fan of flat weave rugs.  They are everywhere and for good reason.  My favorite thing about them is they are reversible.  I also love all the fun pattern and colors they come in and the price point is really great.  To celebrate my love for Surya's flat weave rugs, I'm giving one away to a lucky follower of Jennifer Taylor Design.

Chez Sois {take five}

Finally, all the "pretties" are starting to be installed at Chez Sois and this is my favorite time of a project.  I get to see everything we've selected being installed and my design vision comes to life!

My client was on a well-deserved vacation for three weeks and so much was done while she was away.  There were a few moments I had to make some quick decisions on her behalf, but thank goodness nothing major happened.  The walls were put back up, cabinets were installed and tile started going in.

Here are the beginnings of the family room bookcase.  I'm in love with the cup pulls!
These glass doors are on the dining room cabinet.
I was able to get a lot of detail in this small shower.
Master bath is coming together.  Can't wait for the lights to be installed!
Powder bath beauties....wait till you see what's going on the walls.
The second bedroom is becoming a dressing room (aka big closet), starting with these cabinets.
Paint samples went up last week.  We're going with a soft neutral throughout.  Please ignore the green...that was there and it's going to be quickly covered up.
Here's a sampling of what we are thinking of doing on the master bedroom ceiling.  The wallpaper is going in the master bath (love it so much).

I'm Back from Market and I'm Full

I'm exhausted and energized at the same time.  Market was definitely worth it, but man I'm wiped!  Obviously, not tired enough as I couldn't wait to sit down and share some of my favorite finds with you.  I had a long list of items I wanted to find for clients, but I was also going to be inspired and I was.  The displays themselves were works of art, the products were to die for and I also had some great southern food!

I picked up two lines that I'm really excited about.  One is Caracole and their tag line is "high style, high value furnishings", which somewhat represents what I'm all about.  When I first arrived at their showroom I wasn't sure they were for me.  I was assigned a salesperson and escorted onto the sales floor.  This usually means they are either so exclusive (aka super expensive) or they only cater to the larger retailers.  I was wrong on both counts.  They couldn't have been nicer and they are designer friendly.  Oh, and affordable.  They didn't allow photography, but here are a few of my favorites that I pulled off their web site..

The second line I found is Canadel and they are a company out of Canada that sells high quality dining room furniture.  I specifically sought them out as they were recommended to me because of their ability to customize.  Again, I was pleasantly surprised at their selection and how designer friendly they were.  Here are some of my favorites...

This is a kitchen island and it's not even on their web site yet.  It comes in lots of different finishes and two sizes.  What a great option for someone who wants that wood top in their kitchen.
I still have so much more to share, but that's all I can get together today.  My client to-do list is a mile long!  I promise to do another post soon with details about my giveaway contest.

A Progress Report at Summer Duck

I couldn't help but write about my Summer Duck job after visiting the house today.  It's a new construction project and I was so happy to see how much was done.  My client is great as she's taken some real design "chances" and they are paying off!

This site literally took my breath away.  Those lanterns couldn't be better!

The trim carpenter is very good and this mantle is an example of his talent.

This is the blue laundry room.  That light is red and yes, that bucket is going to be her laundry sink!

Then, I turned another corner and this was waiting for me in the master bath!  My client found the light at an antique store and she's afraid it's too big.  I disagree, so we're waiting until the last minute to decide if it's going somewhere else.

Here is the tile in the master shower.  No grout yet, but I couldn't help but share.

My final "moment" was getting to see this cabinet in the boy's bathroom.  I have no words...

My last little surprise is showing you the light (another one my client found) that will be going in the foyer.

I promise to keep you updated with pictures of the final product.  It will be fabulous!

This Designer is Going to Market...

There is a special place in North Carolina where interior designers gather to feast their eyes on the latest trends in the industry and find those special vendors who have that perfect piece for their client.  It's called High Point Market and I AM GOING!  I've been before, but it's been 15 years, so I'm a little excited to say the least.  I can't wait to learn from the best in the industry (by attending the seminars) and see the most beautiful pieces home design manufacturers have to offer.

Follow me on Instagram @jennifertaylordesign
Every one of those blue buildings has something great to see and those colored lines are the shuttles.  I only have two days there, so I have a lot to figure out!
I plan to share the "love" with all my readers, as well as those who follow me on Instagram and Facebook.  I've also got some great ideas for a contest to give away one of my favorite things I find at market, so stay tuned for details.

But first, I have to get through my own HELL WEEK at The One Week Boutique where I'm a partner.  Eight full days of hard work!  I wonder if they rent scooters at High Point?!?
